Just as bad weather tore through the northwest the night before, the home side swept United away at the Etihad Stadium. It was a statement 3-0 victory for Andrée Jeglertz’s side due to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a result that truly announced their title credentials as they consolidated their standing at the league summit.

Successive Losses for Manchester United

This scoreline signalled back-to-back league losses for Skinner's side for the maiden instance since spring 2024, placing them seven points off the top team with their trophy ambitions severely dented.

United’s capacity to manage league and continental football with a thin squad has been a widely debated topic since they secured entry to the UCL.
